Mike Prince (Bassist for Laura Steel)
Mike Prince is a musician born in Shropshire, England in 1990. His career in music began when he started playing piano at the age of nine. Aged 16 during his first year of college Mike found an interest in the bass and went on to study an FDmus and a BA Hons in Professional Musicianship at BIMM (Bristol Institute of Modern Music) where he was tutored by internationally renowned bassist Stuart Clayton. “Studying at BIMM under the tuition of Stuart Clayton has helped me be the best and most professional musician that I can possibly be."
In 2010 After playing bass for just 3 years Mike successfully auditioned for the role of bassist with renowned London based singer / songwriter Laura Steel. To date Mike, Laura and the band have performed at some of the most recognised industry events and venues (2011 Isle of Wight Festival, the 2010 Wireless Festival and the 02 Arena) and have supported acts like Eliza Doolittle, The Feeling and Kosheen.
Now living in London Mike performs with Laura on a regular basis and the new single 'Kriminal' jumped straight into the official commercial club chart in the UK at number 20, gained nominations for the 'BEST DANCE / ELECTRONIC ACT 2102 - EXPOSURE AWARDS', and went to No3 on www.fusionradio.fm, the largest commercial dance internet radio station in the US.
Mike became a Schaller endorsee in August 2010 as he has always used Schaller strap locks on his Status Graphite basses. “Schaller strap locks and guitar hardware are just pure quality and I swear by it! My deepest thanks go out to Lars and everyone at Schaller for their continued support.”
